Breast Augmentation Procedures

There are three different procedures in breast augmentation and each are priced differently because they require very specific techniques to achieve their desired results. Most women are not happy with their breast. Some women believe their breasts are too small while others endure back problems because their breasts are excessively large. Still many are unhappy feeling that their breasts are oddly shaped, pointing in the wrong directions, or sagging by nature or as a result of aging. Each problem has a treatment and there are three procedures to enlarge, reduce, or lift the breast.

The costs of each procedure vary widely and depend on the severity of the change as well as many other factors that typically influence the price of plastic surgery procedures. Breast implants will cost approximately $5,500 to $7,000 on average while the cost for breast reduction or reconstruction will average anywhere from $5,000 to $6,000. A breast lift is often performed as a complement to breast implants and will costs approximately $3,000 to $4,500 per treatment.

Implants for breast enlargement are either made of silicone or saline. Although the material of the implant has insignificant influence on the total cost of the surgery, surgeon fees which make up a fraction of the final costs, are a couple hundred dollars higher for silicone implants.

Breast mastectomy is a more accurate term for the procedure that reshapes the breast, also known as breast reconstruction, and is often performed on patients who had or currently have breast cancer. In contrast, mammoplasty is the elective surgery to reduce the breast size and often performed on patients who experience back pain. Both breast reduction costs are priced nearly the same because it uses the same technique and process of removing tissue.

Another type of procedure to shape the breast is known as a mastopexy which is the breast lift for women who want to retain their original breast size but change the shape. It can offer perkier breasts which often will result in the breasts appearing larger and fuller. A majority of patients are women who have had children and the process caused their breast to sag.

There are many benefits that plastic surgery offers to those who use enhancement procedures with sound judgment. There are also many risks associated with unrealistic goals or expectations from plastic surgery treatments. Any surgery is a serious matter and it is up to the patient to inform themselves before proceeding.
